Description:This attractive 1873 lighthouse is uniquely located on a crib at the east side of the entrance to Shelburne Harbour. At low tide the light is accessible on foot across a sand-bar. The former control building for the lighthouse has been rebuilt as a community hall, where there is a gift shop and canteen. Staff at the hall are happy to tell visitors about the history of the lighthouse and its keepers. From the beach, watch fishing boats and container ships travelling in and out of the busy harbour. Sandy Point is also an excellent spot to view feeding seabirds and glorious sunsets.
