Introduction

Promoting and sharing research has been an important aim of the Nova Scotia Lighthouse Preservation Society since its creation. The story behind lighthouses - how they came to be built, who looked after them and how they evolved - is essential if these unique structures are to be understood as something beyond pretty pictures. The Society has an active program of oral history. We have also worked to locate and share reference material about lighthouses to assist those researching individual lights.
